Spritz cookies with kitchenaid

We spent all day yesterday making spritz christmas cookies. We do this once a year as it is the only time I allow myself to eat cookies. We do make a big batch as Jeff shares at work and I often give small bags as gifts to friends. And while we have the mess, might as well double the recipe.

Here we make spritz with a meat grinder (remove the blade of course) and add a special form at the end of it for the shape of the cookie. This year I had a meat grinder attachment for my kitchenaid which means I didn't need Jeff to turn the handle for me. It still takes getting used to though as you will see on the video. Spritz with Kitchenaid

Here is what the fancy thing looks like  and the finished biscuits in the tins. Used two of the shapes.

Brilliant work Joanne and even a video to boot, will have to google spritz biscuits to see what they are but look a little like shortbread.

Well done, pass some my way ;) can't believe it's the only time you eat biscuits .. Good girl!

yes Shaz, they are shortbread. you will find lots of info on the internet but maybe not the one using the meat grinder as that is specific to germany and the alsace/lorraine area of france. the americans use a cookie press to make them, which is not a bad idea but you get different shapes.
Ingredients are basic, flour, butter, sugar, egg yolks, vanilla
